Personality: Russ Is kinda clueless. He has trouble reading people, especially those he met recently, same goes for Pokémon. He has a professional mindset that he uses when studying, when he works he is much more perceptive. He approaches the world from a scientific view and sometimes has trouble understanding the feelings of pokemon, one of the main reasons he is on the journey he is on in the first place. Russ treats everyone as equals regardless of their status, pokemon included. He tends to be stubborn when he's made up his mind, but can be coaxed into changing it with the help of Twilight. He generally isn't very emotional and doesn't show his emotions well either.
Likes: Russel loves gadgets, when he first got a pokeball he just made it shrink and enlarge for ten minutes. he Isn't especially good with them though.

Riding Twilight. Even though he can't do it professionally anymore He still liked to ride her, and she still likes being ridden, just not for too long, too much stress put on the prosthetic.

Classical music. Russel grew up with rap and pop, he much more prefers the melodies of classical artists, especially the violin.

Puzzles. Russell isn't especially good at them, but he will always have a sudoku book or be engrossed in some kind of puzzle game on his phone.

Dislikes: russ hates It when people waste food. Having grown up with hardly anything to eat every piece of food matters to him. One of the biggest insults to him is if someone leaves a meal unfinished.

Russell Does not tolerate anyone treating anyone else with anything other than the respect they deserve, especially if they are mistreated for superficial things such as race or social standing.

Crowds and people. Russel Is an introvert mostly. He can handle people but things like parties and concerts are his worst nightmare.

people who correct other's language. Russell may have studied language but that doesn't make him snooty or even right when it comes to language, because language is a constantly fluctuating thing, So don't assume him to be like the average english major.

History: Born to a family of seven in the slums of Solumina City, Russ did not have the best of childhoods. His parents worked hard, but he was never quite satisfied, one day Russ' dad Lost his job, consumed by grief he started drinking. After a nasty altercation with his drunken father Russ ran away from home.
Big mistake for a boy of seven. He collapsed on Dendo Plains. A wayward Ponyta took care of Russ. Even though no words were said, their relationship became a simple friendship. He spent some time out there, nearly a year. In that time odd mannerisms and the time She spent watching the sky at twilight made Russ worry about the ponyta.

When he came home with a Pokemon Russ' parents were upset because they wouldn't be able to take care of her. Russ, determined to pay back Twilight for her kindness was not giving up that easy. After trying battling for money and even entering a contest, Russ knew that his one Pokemon would not be enough to stay afloat. That’s when a fated conversation with a passing trainer changed everything. This trainer complemented the way Russ rode Twilight around and made the suggestion to go into Pokemon racing.

Taking that advice to mind Russ began his career as a racer at the age of 8. he rose slowly through the ranks, and by the age of ten was a favorite underdog in the betting scenes. On the regional race Russ' father bet all his savings on his son, and Russ won. The resulting money got Russ' mom back to school.

At the age of 14 Russ was in a plan crash on his way to a race in Johto. His leg was crushed by crumbling fuselage and had to be amputated. This event gave Russ an excuse to pursuing the one thing that he always wanted to do, talk with Twilight. There were so many things he wanted to talk about, and the limited communication between the two was not enough for Russ.

He wished to thank Twilight for all she did for him in her own tongue. To have not a single word of his lost meaning to the Pokemon. To this end Russ completed the rest of  High School in half a year, and began college at the age of 15. After four years of studying linguistics Russ had hardly learned anything. He began working on his doctorate in the field when the headmaster of the college put a hold on it.

The headmaster told Russ that he couldn't learn everything in the classroom or the lab. To learn how Pokemon and humans communicate He needed more first hand experience. The headmaster then devised an unusual assignment. Study Pokemon and the way they communicated with each other and with humans all over Rinko. One report for each route and settlement. If he could do that he would get a final test and then receive his doctorate in the field of Pokemon linguistics.    

Extra: Has motorized prosthetic leg, though it enables him to walk around normally it doesn't have the charge or the endurance to handle more than an hour of sustained walking at any given time.

Has an amphibious ATV. Electric, with a fold out solar panel for emergency charging and a good 14 hours of battery life.

Pokemon Personality: Twilight is pushy. When she wants something she makes it clear. That said she has a motherly love for Russ that would rival his own mothers. Twilight is also very chatty, anytime she can get a hold of another Pokemon she will talk their ears off. The only time she does not talk is during her namesake. She is solemn and silent during these times. Russ tends to spend time comforting her during these times.
(Adding this one)Pokemon history: Early in her Life, Twilight Was in love with fire. True to her element she was livid with her power. Her parents often told her of a story of a Rapidash that pulled the sun over the horizon, filling the sky with it's brilliant flames. Pokemon poachers killed Twilight's mom and stole her father from her. Her fire was never the same. She wandered for a long time, defying the will of trainer's pokeballs and staying as far as she could from humans. But fate would prove a difficult thing to move away from. Twilight found a boy, she got angry, but when she found he was unconscious she stayed by him. Listening to him she found that she sympathized with his homelessness. Those days were some of the best in her life, but the boy had to go back to his family, she knew that. But he fought to stay with her even then. The rest is history.
